In order to lose weight and keep it off weight training is essential because:

  • Without weight training we start losing muscle tissue at age 25.
  • Every pound lost results in 30-50 less calories you burn every day.
  • We can lose from 15-30 pounds of muscle in a lifetime.
  • When you lose weight without weight training 20-40% of that weight can be muscle. 
  • This is the real reason it is so hard to keep the weight off because you may now be burning 300-500 less calories per day.
  • Thus, you may be eating even less food but still gaining weight.
  • The good news if you can gain muscle at any age and it only takes 2 workouts per week of 30 minutes. Three of those pictured are in their 70s!
